Coral Academy fosters a diverse community for students, parents, and educators who share a passion for learning. We prioritize the physical and emotional well-being, privacy, and safety of our users, ensuring their confidence in our platform.
DEFINITIONS & INTERPRETATION:
Wherever used in this document, and except as otherwise defined herein, terms defined in any other part of the document shall have the meaning ascribed to them therein. The following are the definitions of the terms:
1. “diversity or diverse” shall mean:
The inclusion of individuals from various backgrounds, which include race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion, gender identity, and social class.
2. “secular” shall mean:
We are neutral or unbiased towards any particular religious or ideological belief. We avoid promoting specific religions or personal beliefs.
3. “inclusivity or inclusive” shall mean:
We consider a global audience and our classes welcome interested learners aged 3 to 18 years. We believe in inclusivity of gender identity and refrain from using exclusionary language. We establish guidelines to protect learners and avoid portraying superiority or oppression.
4. “age-appropriate content” shall mean:
We include Parental Guidance (PG) statements for sensitive or potentially upsetting content in our class descriptions, as required.
How does Coral Academy safeguard the community?
To ensure the quality of our teachers and classes, we employ a thorough screening process that involves multiple steps.
Teacher Onboarding: During teacher onboarding, we gather their background information including teaching experience, subject expertise, and motivation. Additionally, we conduct demo classes & might assess their teaching setup.
Periodic review of classes: We also periodically review class descriptions to ensure they meet our standards in terms of quality, completeness, and the teacher's relevant background and experience
Background check: We gather information using google forms gathering info about teacher’s highest qualifications, experience, personal details like address, email id, contact number, picture, etc to verify identity and screen for any criminal records before a teacher begins their first class.
How do we create a safe and enriching learning space?
Handpicked Teachers: We take pride in handpicking exceptional teachers who undergo rigorous background checks, tests, and demos across various domains.
Small Class Sizes: Our small class sizes promote a nurturing learning experience, allowing teachers to tailor their approach for personalized learning.
Class Content: We also maintain strict class content policies to ensure that our classes are unbiased, secular, age-appropriate, and free from discrimination, hate speech, or violence.
Verified learners: At Coral Academy, we encourage learners to enable video during their classes as we believe it creates a more social and secure learning environment.
Feedback: We value the feedback and insights from parents, which is why we believe in gathering feedback from parents & students that help us in making informed decisions about classes and teachers for your child.
Additionally, we utilize our expertise & algorithms to recommend the best-fit teacher or best-fit class for your child, ensuring that they receive an optimal learning experience.
Safe Video Conferencing Platform
Coral Academy utilizes the “https://www.coralacademydemo.com/” website and the Zoom video conferencing platform to deliver our classes. To ensure the security and privacy of our sessions, all Zoom meetings on Coral Academy are protected by passwords, allowing only authorized teachers and students to join. We prioritize the control and authority of hosts & teachers in the virtual classroom, granting them the ability to manage entry into the class and utilize essential functions such as screen sharing and audio/video controls. This enables hosts/teachers to promptly address any issues that may arise during the class.
By adhering to these measures, we strive to uphold the highest standards of safety and professionalism within our organization.
Limited Class Recordings for Internal Purposes
Coral Academy maintains a practice of recording classes for various purposes, such as internal quality, safety checks, teacher evaluation, customer service, customer & support and compliance with regulations. We recognize the importance of privacy for both our learners and teachers, and therefore, we have implemented several measures to safeguard their privacy rights.
We store these video recordings on our platform for a period of 180 days, after which they are permanently deleted. It is important to note that we might keep the recordings for a higher period of time, if there are any legal compliances to be adhered to. We do not share class recordings, as well as any personally identifiable information of our community members, with any external parties for marketing purposes or any other reasons.
By implementing these privacy measures, we aim to prioritize the confidentiality and protection of our learners and teachers within the Coral Academy community.

General Online Safety Practices
It is important for either you or a responsible adult designated by you to monitor your learner's participation in Coral Academy classes. Learners engage with teachers and fellow learners through group video chats, by unmuting or by posting and commenting within the Coral Academy classroom.
Note: Should we materially alter this Safety Policy in a significant manner, we will update the policy on the website along with the modified date before the effective date of the changes.
